Improving well-being and behavior in adolescents utilizing a school-based positive psychology intervention

This study is a multi-component Positive Psychology Intervention (PPI) with the goal of improving daily happiness and classroom behavior in sample at-risk high-school students. PPIs have increasingly been used school settings to enhance student well-being, success, increase positive affect. The current utilized multiple baseline design, across five adolescents, examine whether manualized PPI implemented individual school-based counseling sessions students, would lead increased happiness, improved behavior, life satisfaction, measured through Daily Happiness survey, Direct Behavior Rating (DBR), General Scale, Brief Multidimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Student Scale. Results demonstrated high variability data an overall null effect intervention on two dependent variables behavior. Limitations included impacts outside factors reports Due small scale lack observed effects, more research needed draw conclusions about application intervention. However, social validity revealed that mental health professionals may still consider this teach students strategies improve satisfaction.
